A local Jehovah’s Witness church in Los Angeles is the newest center of controversy after one of the church’s ushers was arrested for accusations of sexually assaulting several children while working at the religious facility.
According to police announcements made on Friday, August 16th, M. Alonso, age 34, was arrested for the sexual abuse of children; however, the reports did not indicate how many children have come forward with accusations against the Jehovah’s Witness usher.
Alonso’s stint as an usher at Jehova’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Sun Valley, California lasted six years, during which time police say that he used his position to initiate the relationships that he formed with his victims. Child victims of the alleged assaults range in age, with children as young as eight and as old as fifteen claiming sexual victimization by Alonso.
The usher has been in jail since July 29th, and no news of an imminent release has been revealed. Currently, authorities are urging anyone with additional information about the case to come forward.
