A mammogram is a safe, low-dose X-ray picture of the breast and is considered to be the most effective process for noticing breast cancer at an early stage. When used properly, a mammogram can be an invaluable tool in the treatment of breast cancer. However, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) became aware of problems associated with the quality of mammograms performed at the Huntington Radiology facility. Mammograms preformed at this facility between September 9, 2008 and September 9, 2010 may have produced unreliable results.
If you or a loved one has received an unreliable mammogram from this facility, you should contact our lawyers immediately for a free confidential case evaluation. You may be entitled to compensation for your injuries and we can help.
What’s the problem?
The Food and Drug Administration, in association with the American College of Radiology (ACR), conducted a review of mammograms preformed by Huntington Radiology that included images taken in the two year period between September 9, 2008 and September 9, 2010. As a result, they discovered poor quality mammograms that could lead to unreliable and misleading results.
Under the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) of 1992, the FDA requires that all mammography facilities meet certain high quality standards. Huntington Radiology facility failed to meet industry standards for mammography quality under the Act. As a result, the following audience should be aware of the possible risks associated with this facility:
- Patients who had a mammogram at Huntington Radiology in Huntington Park, California between September 9, 2008 and September 9, 2010.
- Health care providers who have referred patients to Huntington Radiology facility for a mammogram performed between September 9, 2008 and September 9, 2010.
