What’s the problem?
Although the manufacturers of Fruta Planta marketed the dietary supplement as “100% Pure Nature”, the FDA discovered during laboratory tests that the product contained an undeclared ingredient of the controlled drug sibutramine. Sibutramine is an FDA approved drug used as an appetite suppressant for weight loss. Manufacturers of dietary supplements can not use controlled drugs in their products without prior FDA approval.
Sibutramine is considered extremely dangerous due to its inherent ability to substantially increase an individuals blood pressure/pulse. This risk is elevated in patients who already have a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmia or stroke.
