The onslaught of sexual deviants that have preyed on the youth of our nation continues to metastasize itself throughout the community. Contributing to this already disturbing epidemic are the actions of one, Mark Brendt. Brendt, a former school teacher in South L.A., was taken into custody on Monday and charged with the lewd and salacious treatment of approximately 23 children. Allegations suggest that Brendt would tie up his victims against their will, while simultaneously placing giant cockroaches on their faces and spoon feeding them his own semen.
At the age of 61, Berndt is a former school teacher who worked at Miramonte Elementary School in South L.A. for approximately three decades. However, the school district in which he was associated with has no desire to recollect him ever having worked there. The culmination of a year-long investigation revealed 23 individual counts of alleged lewd and lascivious acts Brendt committed with former students.
While the acts against humanity that Brendt allegedly committed between 2008 and 2010, he was not arrested until January 30, 2012. It was then that Berndt was taken into custody after a nearly yearlong investigation by the L.A. County sheriff’s special victims unit. Subsequently, the investigation was set in motion once a photo processor turned over pictures of some of the alleged acts to authorities. The conclusion of the investigation revealed a total of 23 children, boys and girls between the ages of 7 to 10, who were sexually violated by Brendt between 2008 and 2010.
During their investigation, officials uncovered photos hidden at Brendt’s home that allegedly depicted young students bound and blindfolded. Several pictures witnessed students in a school setting tied up with large Madagascar cockroaches crawling on them.
Perhaps even more disturbing than the introduction of vile cockroaches to the bound children, was what appears to be spoons containing Brendt’s semen photographed next to their faces. “Early in the investigation, special victims bureau detectives recovered a blue plastic spoon and an empty container from the trash within the suspect’s classroom,” Parker said. “The recovered items tested positive for semen.” Subsequent tests revealed a match between Brendt’s DNA and that of the semen found on the spoon.
Parker acknowledged that 10 children from the lewd photos have yet to be identified. Accordingly, more than 80 children and staff have been interviewed as a means to procure more information into the alleged sexual abuse case leveled at Brendt. The former teacher is currently being held with a steep $2.3 million bail.
