A worker for a youth dance production company in Cypress was recently arrested after he was accused of recording underage girls in a dressing room. According to officials from the Orange County district attorney’s office, 33-year-old Paul Michael Barbour of Long Beach was arrested June 1st after investigators discovered the videos on his home computer. Authorities also stated that Barbour was in possession of more than 1,000 child pornography images.
Barbour was reportedly an MC and announcer at dance competitions, and was also allegedly an assistant direct of a dance production company in Cypress. Authorities began investigating Barbour after a dance competitor’s mother found a camera in a dressing at Cypress College before a dance competition on May 31, 2014. Orange County authorities have stated that the camera recorded girls between the ages of 12 and 15 years old as they prepared to compete.
During the investigation, authorities also discovered numerous child pornography images on Barbour’s home computer – which were reportedly unrelated to the videos he took of youth dance competitors. More than 20 pounds of hallucinogenic mushrooms drugs were also found inside his home. Barbour is facing multiple charges for recording the young girls, possessing child pornography, and possession of drugs with intent to sell. If convicted, he could face up to seven years and six months imprisonment.
