Early Sunday morning – February 2, 2012 – 32-year-old Kristofer Bland was arrested under suspicion of engaging in sexual acts with minors. According to the Chino Police Department, Bland was taken into custody at his home shortly after 2:00 am Sunday morning in response to a report from a concerned parent. The parent contacted police earlier that Sunday after overhearing their 14-year-old child – the victim – discussing the alleged molestation with a friend.
Law enforcement officers later obtained evidence linking Bland to the alleged victim, as well as other victims. Bland was taken into custody for charges relating to continual sexual abuse of a minor and other sex crimes. He is currently being held on $350,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
Bland was a cheerleading coach with the Chino Pop Warner League, which organizes football and cheerleading for children ages 5 to 15. Officials from the league have commented that Chino Pop Warner currently has no coaches, as the league is between seasons. Officials also stated that the league does background checks on all coaching staff. Law enforcement officers are continuing their investigation and are asking for anyone with information about the case to step forward.
